I live in Germany. Most medieval houses had really thick (50cm - 150cm) stone walls, that were usually the ground floor. The stone walls depicted in the game are a fassade, they don't hold up the building (the timber frame does). In this specific case it would be more cost effective and insulation effective to just use waddle and daub.
